Editorial Photography- Mike Hudson
Mike Hudson, a professional glass blower, located in Louisville, Kentucky. Fire Glass Blowing Art Studio & Gallery, located in a small strip building on the corner of two busy streets, hosts a large room of previously crafted work, all available for purchase to the public. Their work includes, but is not limited to, ball ornaments, icicle ornaments that you see being created in the photographs below, along with a beautiful wall of arraigned glass plates. The colors vary from pink, green, blue, orange and more, all shades different as well. Oh, and of course, intricately created animals including turtles, starfish, angel fish, and even pufferfish.

Behind the desk Paula, his wife of almost 17 years, takes care of the lobby, of course being accompanied by their two dogs: Gabe and Scarlet. To the right of the desk, is the entrance to where the magic happens. The warehouse hosts a plethora of equipment to make the show run smoothly. However, very warm, Hudson is hard at work creating icicle ornaments to hang in their gallery.

His expertise is revealed immediately as he continues to create the ornaments and explain what he does effortlessly at the same time, since Fire offers a Create-Your-Own class where Hudson does the "hot, technical part, while you use your own breath to “inflate your masterpiece."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Having been originally opened in 2014, the glass studio and gallery moved to the east end of Louisville in January of 2021. Since then, the studio has seen countless customers, all ready to see the magic of glass blowing.

You can visit Hudson's website at https://firestudioandgallery.com/ to learn more about their work and schedule appointments to create your own masterpiece.
For this shot, I actually crouched on the floor to get this angle and aimed up to get his expression. Hudson just happened to look at my camera and I got an amazing shot of his work. The only editing that was done was adding a bit of color back into the icicle, and cropping it slightly.
For this shot I really wanted to get the orange glow of the hot glass. As for editing, I added a bit of vibrance, and took out a couple of distracting things in the background.
